Yankee

Being a fan of a sport can be a spot.  Or a way of life. Don't worry I am not that hardcore about being a Yankee Fan.

I blame Spot Collins for making Brooklyn a cool and exciting place to live.

If the Dodgers were still in Brooklyn then I'd be a Dodger fan.

Okay I have Dodger gear from friends since I am a California native.  If it is free I will wear it.....maybe

However you can ask my sister. I let her borrow my NY Yankee beanie and I probably looked like this picture asking for it back.

Xtreme Skateboarding

So I used to skateboard for fun. Nothing to crazy. I actually preferred a longboard.  However there is xtreme skateboarding. Try it at your own risk.

Woodworking

I do not know what happen to my post but here goes again.

Woodworking is not a hobby I have ever wanted to do but now it interreges me. It will be one of those things that I try once and move on.

I would be afraid of splinters.
The carving aspect reminds me of carving my clay pieces.

Violin

My sister once tried to learn to play the violin. I think it was a good hobby.....once she got better.
I tried it and well if I had made time I am sure I would have gotten better.

Yup good hobby.

Ukulele

Finding a hobby with a U was kind of difficult. I think because it wasn't something I was interested in.

I will take a trip to Hawaii just to see about this ukulele business. ^_^

Tokidoki

Tokidoki is not really a hobby.  I have collected some items.  If money was abundant I would get Simone to fly over here to personalize my office, house and car.  It would be most awesome!

Sewing

When I was little my grandmother taught me to sew on her sewing machine. In high school I took a sewing class and really enjoyed it.
I wish I made the time to do it more.  I love the sewing part but the cutting and fitting is the part that takes me a while.

Things I would like to make:

I know I can just buy but its more exciting when you make them.

Running

I try.
Running is pretty easy once you start.  It's the starting that is the hardest for me.
I've done a 5k and 10k.
There are many more to attempt like a half or a marathon.

Yup I mostly do it because I like to eat.

Quilting

One day I would like to make a quilt. People do it as a hobby and they make it seem so easy.  I look at it all in confusion.
However if I make one I want it to match my beach theme d├ęcor.
Or maybe one that I can give to a cat lover since I love cats but am allergic.

Pottery

Not much to say about pottery except that I love my Potter's Wheel Throwing Class.  I am a bit allergic to the glazes but then again they are harsh chemicals.
My first cups!
My first glazing

It's a messy job.  But I've gotten better.

1st big item thrown.  Came out very nice.

Bowl assignment

Bowls getting bone dry.  (The bottom right did not survive my man handling)

Better cup

What I have done in my class so far.
I really have enjoyed checking off things on my bucket list or things to try before I get old...er.

Origami

I've tried origami and sometimes it works other times it does not. My sister is really good at it.

My Sister's Frog.
I one time had to make cranes one time for a work event.

"According to Japanese tradition, anyone with the patience and commitment to fold 1,000 paper cranes will be granted their most desired wish, because they have exhibited the cranes’ loyalty and recreated their beauty"

Well I don't think I made the entire 1,000 because my amazing sister helped me.  It was nice sister bonding time getting them all finished.

Needlework

Needlework is a hobby I have long since put behind me.  Or rather it is hiding in my house somewhere. The only embroidery needlework item I have is a Baby Mickey and Friends cross stitch blanket I began back when I thought I would have kids.

I don't really remember what it looked like but found something that could have been it.
I guess I can't have kids til I finish this ha.
I learned this craft from my grandmother and mother. They would make borders on pillow cases and also they loved flowers.
Roses they loved roses. And you had to have the back lined up parallel or horizontal not crazy backs.
This post makes me want to pick up the hobby again.....maybe I will just pin some pictures and that will satisfy my needs.

Mopeds and Motorcycles

Taking up riding a moped or motorcycle can be a hobby.  You go out riding with friends.  Although if I were to get one. It would be have to be an orange one.  Or red.

Found on Pinterest From Flickr by Mario Traar
Hobby equals riding around, fixing, cleaning, and maintaining the bike. All with a smile.

Lampworking

So another hobby I would like to learn.  I hadn't thought about this hobby until my sister suggested it since I was interested in glassblowing.
pic from Wikipedia

Looks kind of intense.  You have a torch and glass that can burn you.  However you end up with beautiful items...usually beads.

Knitter by Choice

Above all else I am a knitter.  It is the only hobby of mine that I can take on the go. I can do it in bed, I can do it on the couch while watching TV, and I do it at the restaurants.  I might be looked upon awkwardly but I enjoy keeping my hands busy.  I have different blog post about what I am making and what I've made.

So I leave you with my latest's.

My current project Lily of the Valley Shawl.

I think I need this a shirt with this logo.

Thanks for reading.

Making Jewlery

I learned to make jewelry from my grandmother.  I used to love and as sit and attempt to create something nice.  My problem is that I don't really wear jewelry.  If I were to make something it was eventually given away.
These are earrings my aunt made from pearls she got in Hawaii.

Inline Skating...It used to be a thing

So back in the day I used to be a pretty good inline skater.  I kind of want some for work when I go visit my friend who works across campus.  However that is okay.  There area always those old movies that inspire me to go find a pair.

Yeah I thought Roller Derby Chicks had inline skates (rollerblades)....I guess it's Quad Skates.  Still like those kind of skates too.

Okay now I want to go skating.
